Stainless Steel Strapping

Stainless steel strapping is one of the best strapping options for applications in industrial, subsea and offshore environments. It offers high level of resistance to pressure, temperature and corrosion.

Applications of Stainless Steel Strapping

Stainless steel strapping is almost a speciality strapping for many applications in:

  • Offshore oil platforms
  • Down hole strapping
  • Chemical plants
  • Pipe line strapping
  • Undersea cable banding
  • Water treatment
  • Underground cable/pipe
  • Desalinization
  • Furnace
  • Marine
  • High temperature applications

Benefits of Stainless Steel Strapping

  • It has strong resistance against chemicals, UV radiations, salts, high temperatures, cold, heat and moisture.
  • It is highly durable and strong.
  • It is highly resistant to corrosion.
  • It can be used outdoors without worries of any damages by the elements.
  • It is easier and safer than steel strapping because it doesn’t have similar sharp edges.

Types of Stainless Steel Strapping

There are different grades of stainless steel straps designed for customized strapping. These are the 201-201, 301-304, and 317-317L Series.

The 201-201 series stainless steel strapping has manganese and nickel along with chromium. This makes it nonmagnetic and strong, and highly resistant to corrosion. It is also relatively cheaper compared to other steel grades without compromising on features like resistance to oxidation and resilience.

The 301-304 series grade steel is used mostly of making strapping of thickness 0.015 – 0.025 inch. It has higher levels of nickel compared to the 201-series. This means even better resistance to corrosion, making it even more suitable for use in corrosive environments.

The 317-317L Series strapping is even more corrosion resistant than the above-mentioned two straps. Its main features include low levels of carbon and traces of molybdenum, the combination of which gives it its higher corrosion resisting power. Because of the low-carbon content, it is highly resistant to sensitization in high temperature.

Ask the experts at Allstrap for the best strapping to use with hot loads and they will always recommend this grade. The 317L series of strapping is non-magnetic. It can turn slightly magnetic only if welded upon.

Thus, there are many reasons for using stainless steel strapping for heavy applications. It is also the perfect option for use in extreme conditions around chemicals and extreme temperatures. Make sure to choose the speciality strapping depending on the kind of application.
